Dear Albemarle Road Elementary families,
Welcome to Albemarle Road Elementary Academy of World Studies and home of the Mustangs! We share a campus with Albemarle Middle School, where our students go when they finish elementary school.
We have a strong focus on our students’ academic success and on their characters and citizenship. We strive to nurture a positive growth mindset in teachers and students: We believe all students can learn and we work with them to set and exceed goals. The result of this positive growth mindset can be seen and heard across grade levels and subjects.
However, it’s not limited to academics. Our BEST Behavior plan reinforces schoolwide expectations in all school settings. We work to help our students grow as citizens of our community by modeling appropriate behavior and showing their Mustang Pride. We reward good behavior using positive reinforcement for academic growth and success with special events and recognition.
At Albemarle Road Elementary, we have multiple innovative and successful initiatives to support students and staff in increasing student learning. Our comprehensive approach to literacy includes reading, writing, speaking and listening in all lessons so that students can improve as readers and be reflective learners.
We are also a school focused on building leaders for tomorrow. Using a Success by Design model created for our school, we have strategically placed specialists to support teachers through coaching best practices, differentiation and professional development. The specialists also work directly with students, providing daily instruction for small groups.
Our support staff is dedicated to working with our community, students and families using community partners and agencies. There is a collaborative effort to support the varying needs of the community. We welcome the involvement of families and community members who are stakeholders in the success of our students.
Thank you for choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Albemarle Road Elementary School.
