Restorative Practices Expectations


  1. Be PROACTIVE

Have honest conversations with your scholars

1:1  5 minute conversations


      2. Positive Reinforcement

 Recognize any good thing they do

 Have a rewards system

 Go to/participate in their extra curricular activities


      3. Parental connections

 Put a positive spin on all phone calls

 Each parent should think their scholar is “your favorite”

Questions to ask. Statements to make.

  1. I feel you are …. (make a positive statement about student or progress in class)

  2. Did you accomplish your goals for today?

  3. Do you think you met my expectations today?

  4. How do you think your actions are impacting yourself? The class?

  5. I expect that you will (state expectations moving forward


Restorative Questions (Responding to a challenging moment or behavior)

  1. What happened?

  2. What were you thinking of at the time?

  3. What have you thought about since?

  4. Who has been affected by what you have done? In what way?

  5. What do you think you need to do to make it right

Restorative Questions (To help those HARMED by other’s actions)

  1. What did you think when you realized what had happened?

  2. What impact has the incident had on you and others?

  3. What has been the hardest thing for you?

  4. What do you think needs to happen to make things right?
