Attendance

When you child is absent, you must notify the school by sending us an email (you may use the link at the bottom of this page) or a note that includes an explanation for the absence.  On page 13 of the CMS Parent Student Handbook, you can find a list of absences that are excused and those that are unexcused.  Please keep in mind that according to Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board Policy and the NC Compulsory Attendance Law (N.C.G.S § 115C‑378), parents and guardians are responsible for seeing that their children attend school each day that school is in session.

Also, please note that students must attend school until at least 12:45 in order for the student to be counted as present for the school day.  In addition, children cannot sign out of school after 3:30 in order to ensure a safe dismissal process for all students.
