Elizabeth Lane opened its doors in 1996 on the outskirts of Matthews, NC. Our school is unique in design and features an enclosed courtyard and large modern classrooms. Approximately 950+ students representing over 30 different nationalities attend Elizabeth Lane. An experienced administrative staff leads quality teachers, educational specialists and support staff to form a well-orchestrated educational team for all students.
A computerized media center is available for research and instruction. Each classroom is outfitted with a SmartBoard or projection system and document camera. Students have access to mobile devices such as iPads and Chromebooks in the media center and classrooms.
Elizabeth Lane has developed a statewide reputation for excellence by reaching and exceeding its academic goals. Recently Elizabeth Lane was named an Honor School of Excellence for academic success shown in high test scores on state tests and meeting goals established by No Child Left Behind. Elizabeth Lane was also recognized as a 2005 No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon School. Elizabeth continues to be recognized yearly as a school that meets or exceeds growth expectations and achieves high levels of student proficiency.
At Elizabeth Lane we are very proud of the many parent and community volunteers who work diligently to support the educational program. High expectations for student achievement and support through parent involvement result in academic success for all students. We have a very active PTA that supports our students and staff. We take pride in referring to our community as the "ELE Family."
