School Leadership Team
Members of the School Leadership Team (SLT), also known across North Carolina as the School Improvement Team (SIT), are directly involved in the development and monitoring of the School Improvement Plan, and as appropriate, some of the day-to-day operations of the school.

The School Leadership Team:

  • Facilitates the development of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Uses data as the driving force to create programmatic instructional change.
  • Monitors, assesses, and amends the School Improvement Plan, as needed.
  • Advances policies and procedures that enhance achievement and meet educational, safety and parent involvement goals.
  • Facilitates communication within the Professional Learning Community.
  • Builds the capacity of the school to address parent and staff concerns.

Membership on the SLT/SIT is governed by state and local board policies.  In CMS, Board Policy CFDA indicates that the school's SLT/SIT must have between 10 (min) and 15 (max) members, 50% of which should be parents of students in the school.  An election for staff representatives was held in June 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year.  An election for parent representatives will be held later in Summer 2020 prior to the start of the school year.
