The 2022-2023 Northeast Learning Community Principal of the Year is Hidden Valley's very own

Mr. Daniel Gray!!!  Congratulations!

POY.jpg

Hidden Valley's Teacher of the Year is

Mrs. Maureen Carter!!!

Mrs. Maureen Carter is a first generation honors graduate from Winston Salem State University.  She is married to the love of her life, Richard Sr. and has three beautiful children: Richard Jr., Cailyn, and Summer.  She has taught Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for a total of 12 years.  I have been teaching in Charlotte for a total of  five years now.

She enjoys watching students grow in a way that is unique to them. As an educator she is passionate about building relationships with parents and students to bridge the home-school connection.  Her goal is to instill a foundation in her students that will serve them well for years to come.

Mrs. Carter is a treasured member of the Hidden Valley community and seeks to serve her students well with innovative lessons each day.  Throughout the pandemic and now, she sees that her job is integral to the growth and development of the next generation.

Mrs. Carter, Hidden Valley salutes you, our 2022 Teacher of the Year!

Hidden Valley's Teacher Assistant of the Year is

Mr. Tavarris Metters!!!

Mr. Metters2.jpg

Mr. Metters was born and raised in Charlotte and attended Hidden Valley as a child. He brings a certain sense of understanding to our school and builds solid relationships with our students. Mr. Metters decided to become a Teacher Assistant to be the “big brother” or “cousin” that some students need. He is dedicated to making a difference in the community that raised him. Even though he has only been at Hidden Valley for a year, he has surely made an impact on our students and staff.  Mr. Metters is dedicated to changing the way our students endure life while helping them gain knowledge. He is fulfilling that role and so much more. His creative abilities are showcased daily when the students and staff of Hidden Valley listen to the school song, created by the one and only Mr. Metters. He also helps produce the Morning news.

Mr. Metters strives to help students within the school and outside. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, especially his nephews and little cousins. Outside of family, he is a mentor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. He is in the process of creating his own program called Changing the Game, which is dedicated to preparing our youth with solid foundational life skills.

NED's Mindset Mission is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best. During the assembly, students will learn about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor and yo-yo tricks.

A lot of great things happen at the valley.  One of our former families were featured with one of our CMS Community Partners on the Kelly Clarkson Show. Hidden Valley's social services team as well as our community partners are proud to have played a major role in helping to transform

this family's life.

Hidden Valley Celebrates Hispanic Heritage!

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15…celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

[Starting] in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Johnson, it was later expanded by President Reagan in 1988 to cover from September 15 to October 15

The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.
