Inclement Weather

In the event of an emergency due to weather or any other condition requiring the termination or early dismissal of classes, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools may suspend the operation of the school day.  Should an emergency occur, information will be available from the following sources: CMS’s Web site: www.cms.k12.nc.us., Local radio and television stations, Connect-ED voice and text messages, all HFES Parent Communications systems. For closing and delays, information will be posted by the media by 5:30 a.m. Early dismissal information will be posted between 11 a.m. and noon. Closings will also be announced on CMS TV.

Safety is our top priority. In the event of an emergency, Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School (HFES) staff will be unable to make individual telephone calls to parents. HFES will use the Connect-ED voice and text message system. Connect-ED is a service that allows schools to send recorded messages to parents and staff within minutes. To ensure you receive proper notification, please regularly update your contact information via parent note to the school and/or Powerschool.

For a safe and orderly dismissal, HFES will adhere to the following:

Students will be dismissed by his/her emergency mode of transportation

indicated on their Emergency Dismissal form.

Transportation Changes:

For the safety of our students, transportation changes will not be accepted via phone.

Transportation changes must be in written form. To change your child's mode of transportation,

you must send in a written note or fill out our online Transportation Change Form

Transportation Changes must be complete by 11:30 am.

AfterSchool Enrichment Program

If schools are dismissed early, the After School Enrichment Program is canceled.

ASEP Parents will be contacted regarding their child(ren) dismissal procedure.

If hazardous weather occurs during the ASEP hours,

parents will be encouraged to pick up their children from the program as early as possible.

Because our staff is preparing for the safe and orderly dismissal of students...

There will be no early dismissals during the 45 minute

window prior to the start of our dismissal time.
