Welcome
Dear Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School families,

Welcome to Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School, home of the Foxes! Our school serves 850 students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.  We are an International Baccalaureate (IB) elementary school and all of our students participate in the IB curriculum.  As an IB school, we focus on different character attributes and center our teaching around six themes.  Our curriculum is question-driven and project-based. We also have a dual-language theme in Spanish for kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade and each year we extend the program to a new grade level. Next year will be our first fourth-grade cohort! Our mission statement is, "We nurture and inspire each child's character and love of learning through whole child instruction within a global community."

We are building each year on a tradition of excellence and academic success, setting higher goals for ourselves and our students.  Recognition for our students in important.  We hold quarterly awards ceremonies to celebrate and reward our students.  Our academic and recognition programs include National Honor Society, Safety Patrol, student council, WFOX Team, Battle of the Books, Science Olympiad and Science Club.   Our students are able to also participate in chorus, Art Club and Mileage Club.

I invite you to participate in our school community as often as you can.  Please remember to register as a CMS volunteer.  All volunteers must register each year and select Huntingtowne Farms as the site.  Please also remember to bring your ID upon entering the school as we are working diligently to keep our school safe.

Finally, I would like to tell you a little bit about me.  I came to Huntingtowne Farms at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. I graduated from Taylor University in Indiana with a degree in elementary education.  I received a master’s degree in school administration and leadership from Queens University of Charlotte.  Before coming to Huntingtowne Farms, I was the principal at Merry Oaks International Academy and an assistant principal and literacy coach in CMS.  I have taught first, second, third and fifth grades and I’ve taught in CMS and Union County.

As a principal, I am committed to providing the best education possible to each of our students and I believe that every child can succeed in school. I believe that we can love our students and provide rigorous instruction simultaneously. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached at 980-343-3625 or brittanyj.slagle@cms.k12.nc.us.  I look forward to working with you to ensure that Huntingtowne Farms continues to offer a challenging, effective educational experience in a safe, happy atmosphere.
