Mint Hill Middle School, located in suburban South Charlotte, currently serves a diverse and supportive community of more than 1,100 students. We have a rich tradition of excellence which began when the school opened in August of 2003. Recently, Mint Hill has again been recognized as a National School to Watch for our continued success and adherence to best practices associated with middle level education. We also experienced a year of great academic progress during 2014-15 as we saw an increase our school’s performance in all academic areas resulting in Mint Hill producing double-digit gains in Math and Science Scores, exceeding growth, and receiving a School Performance Grade of B. Our school has extremely high expectations for the academic achievement of all students coupled with a caring, supportive staff who have excelled in their own fields and are considered among the best in the profession. We continue to implement instructional strategies that challenge each individual student to achieve well beyond the standard Common Core curriculum. In fact, the curriculum for Mint Hill Middle School takes full advantage of the success of the block schedule with the understanding of how adolescents learn best. While a focus on core academic areas is top priority, building a well-rounded student ready for the challenges of high school is critical to school success. To that end, band, chorus, drama, computer skills, vocational preparation, dance, and strong athletics are among the electives offered at Mint Hill Middle. This year, we have implemented the Miners Path, which promotes passion, purpose, participation, pride, and passion throughout the school and community. By following the Mines Path, our students strive for excellence, preparing them to be productive and contributing citizens in the 21st century.
