We want your child here at school every day! Regular school attendance is an important part of being a successful student. When students miss days or frequently arrive late or leave early, they are missing important instruction and experiences in the classroom. Please use the guidelines below to help support you in following our attendance procedures.
Reporting An Absence
When your child returns to school after an absence, they must bring a note signed by the parent/guardian indicating the reason for the absence. Their absence will be coded as unexcused until we receive this note. The note can be turned in to Ms. Brookhart in the front office, or emailed to her HERE.
Excused Absences
An absence may be marked as excused if we receive a note explaining that it is for one of the following reasons:
- Illness or injury
- Death in the immediate family
- CMS approved religious holiday
- Doctor/dentist appointment
- Approved education leave (form 5123.21 must be completed & approval obtained from the principal)
- Court or administrative proceedings
Unexcused Absences
An absence will be marked as unexcused if we receive no note, or it falls under one of the following categories:
- Inclement weather
- Vacation or trip
- Car trouble or missed the bus
- Oversleeping
Late Arrivals and Early Dismissals
Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 9:15 AM. Students on late BUSES will not be counted as tardy. Students arriving by car after 9:15 AM MUST be signed in to the front office by an adult and receive a pass to be admitted to class. If a student needs to leave early, they can be checked out from the front office by a parent or guardian BEFORE 3:30. We are not able to allow students to be checked out between 3:30 and 4:15 due to the disruption it causes to our dismissal procedures.
