Science Olympiad Team

Elementary Science Olympiad is a perfect complement to the Rama Road Elementary K-6 science program. It supports the current science curriculum across Grades K-5 as well as the weekly Science Lab instruction. Discovery Student Ambassadors, Grades 3-5

Students in the three pictures below are members of the Rama Road Elementary Discovery Ambassador program. In Fall 2016, these 40 students worked with Discovery Place facilitators to imagine, design, test and build their dream playgrounds of the future for Rama Road Elementary. Students presented their dream playgrounds at Discovery Place in Uptown Charlotte and communicated their design thinking & learning to an authentic audience.

STEM Club for 1st and 2nd Grade Students

Students in 1st and 2nd Grade who are performing at or above grade level in their core content standards for reading, math and writing are invited to participate in this exciting academic club that meets once a week for 19 weeks throughout the school year. Supported through a partnership with Discovery Place that is underwritten by our partners at Christ Church, this academic enrichment opportunity is made available to students free of charge. Students tackle chemistry, math, engineering and communication projects that focus on the immediate community and their understanding of the world around them. Students who meet the criteria to participate are nominated by their classroom teachers.
