Dear Rama Road families,
Welcome to the best kept secret in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. Rama Road Elementary School is located in Southeast Charlotte. Nestled in a suburban neighborhood setting is the quintessential "walk to school" school. We host approximately 600 students in grades PreK through 5th grade each year. Our motto is "Rama Proud and College Bound - Watch Us Shine!" This mantra encompasses our project based learning and global efforts while building on the work students are doing around STEM every day in student-centered classrooms and learning labs. We have a lot of options and choices for families right here in their neighborhood school. Families needn't look elsewhere for a high quality and engaging education for their students.
As Principal of Rama Road Elementary, I am committed to seeing every student succeed. That means having every student promoted ready for the next step in middle school and beyond. I believe that all students can achieve and I work to make that happen a Rama Road. A school where our diversity is our greatest strength, students have the opportunity to work with and befriend learners from around the world. With over 30 nations represented at our school, we welcome every student and family here. Our team makes it a top priority to make Rama Road a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
I have been the Principal of Rama Road Elementary School since December 2011, having worked in CMS since December 1993. Prior to becoming the Principal at Rama Road ES, I served as the Zone Support Coordinator for the Central Secondary Learning Community in CMS. I have been an Assistant Principal at Western Union Elementary School in Union County and Assistant Principal at Jay M. Robinson Middle School. I also served as an Academic Facilitator at Mountain Island Elementary and have taught Kindergarten, First and Second Grade in CMS.
I love sharing that I was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and have lived in the Matthews/Charlotte area since I was a year old. I attended Charlotte Catholic High School in Charlotte, NC. Two of my proudest accomplishments are becoming a National Board Certified Teacher and being selected as a NC Principal Fellow in 2007. I earned a BA in Elementary Education and a Masters in School Administration from UNC-Charlotte. My husband, son and I live in Union County. We have four dogs and enjoy traveling and spending time together as a family.
I look forward to working with you and your student. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions, concerns or would like to tour our school:
