We are absolutely thrilled to welcome all of our students back for the 2022-23 school year! We are excited that our students will be with us on our beautiful campus at Ridge Road. We have some fantastic plans to help make the 2022-23 school year the best yet! Please review the information below and reach out to the contacts at the bottom of the page if you have any questions.
Class Schedules
Our school counselors and administrators worked diligently all summer to review student achievement data, teacher recommendations, and course preference forms to create students' class schedules for the upcoming school year. Schedules will only be changed for the following reasons:
1. Administrative need to balance classes or due to enrollment shifts
2. Student does not have a course on his/her schedule that is required for matriculation
3. Student/parent desires to enroll in advanced coursework (move from standard to honors; the reverse changes will not be made)
4. Student does not have a full schedule
5. Student does not meet the pre-requisites for a specific course on his/her schedule
Students' class schedules will be mailed via US Mail in mid-August to the address on file at the school. Also in this mailing will be bus assignment information.
New Raven Day
New Raven Day is a special event just for our incoming 6th graders. New Raven Day is scheduled in-person on Monday, August 15 from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. During this day, students will be able to explore the Ridge Road campus, interact with teachers and staff, engage in activities to prepare for the transition to middle school, and connect with fellow sixth grade students. This is a wonderful opportunity open to all new 6th grade students who will be attending Ridge Road Middle. Transportation will not be provided, so students must be dropped off and picked up in front of the school building that day.
Open House
Our in-person open house event on campus at Ridge Road is scheduled for Thursday, August 25 from 4:00-6:30 p.m.
At open house, students and their parents will be able to walk the student's class schedule, meet teachers, and sign up for activities. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about transportation, class schedules, exceptional children and English language learner services, and other topics.
Supply Lists
All homeroom classes need 2 boxes of Kleenex, 2 rolls of paper towels, 1 bottle of hand sanitizer, 2 containers of disinfecting wipes.

Transportation
All newly enrolled AND returning students need to complete the CMS Student Ridership Form to notify CMS Transportation department that you will need a bus for the 2022-23 school year. Click here to access the form. It can take up to two weeks for a bus to be assigned; therefore, a bus may not be assigned to your student before the first day of school.
You must have your student's ID number in order to complete the form. Please contact 980-344-3410 or Helen.Baeza@cms.k12.nc.us if you do not know your child's ID number.
CMS will provide transportation services for eligible students to and from their residence address. It is important that you maintain an accurate residence address for every student with our school. Address changes are only processed at your assigned school.
Families who would like to request an alternative stop must complete the form each year. Alternative stop approvals do not carry over from year to year.
