About Us

River Oaks Academy is a Title I neighborhood school established in 2008 and located in the Mountain Island Lake area of Charlotte, NC.  We serve students in PreK-5th grade and have a self-contained Pre-K program. We currently have around 475 students in our K-5 program and 65 students in our PreK program. Our demographics are: 65% African American, 22% Hispanic, 6% White and 7% other.  About 12% of our scholars are served in the exceptional children’s program, 12% of our scholars are served in the English as a Second Language program, 2% are served in the Talent Development program and 1% of scholars are identified under section 504. During the 2020-2021 school year, the staff and SIT revised our mission, vision, and core values.
