Good evening families, this is Courtney Mochan, principal at Statesville Road calling with updates and reminders for the week of February 15th. We are so excited to welcome scholars back for in-person learning next week! We will begin with our scholars on A rotation on Monday and Tuesday and will welcome scholars on B rotation on Thursday and Friday. Our scholars in our Extensions program will come Monday-Friday beginning next week.

All scholars must wear a mask at all times while at school and on the bus. Please be sure to complete the Covid health screener each morning prior to your child arriving to school. The QR code to access the screener can be found in the mailer that was sent in January and is also available on the school website. You will need your child’s ID number to complete the screener. If your child is a bus rider, please send them with a completed bus attestation form on the first day of each week. These forms were sent in the mailer and are also available on the school’s website. The driver will also have blank forms for you to complete at the stop if needed.

Wednesday is an early release day for all CMS students. Scholars should join us for our school-wide morning meeting at 8:00 on Wednesday and then meet with their teacher after that for their class meeting and attendance. Our Extension scholars that will be in the building that day will be dismissed at 12:00.

Next week, we will also be celebrating Kindness Week at Statesville Road! Monday is words of affirmation day and we encourage all scholars to share some words of affirmation and kindness with their classmates, friends, and teachers. Tuesday is Kindness counts day and we will be wearing graphic tees with a positive quote or meaning. Wednesday is random act of kindness day. All scholars are encouraged to do a random act of kindness for someone in your family or the community and to share your story with a staff member to share on our social media pages. Thursday is Read about Kindness day and scholars will be reading a story in their morning meeting that features a character that displays kindness. Friday is be kind to yourself day! We invite all scholars to wear comfy clothes and to do something that brings them joy and happiness as we head into the weekend.
