Attendance

Regular attendance and punctuality are important from the beginning of the school year until the last day. Frequent absences, tardies and/or early dismissals interfere with your child's progress toward learning the necessary basic skills.  If your child is absence because of an illness or injury, please email your child's teacher or have your child bring in a written note and/or doctor's note upon their return to school.  The note should include information pertaining to your child's reason for absence.  Please attempt to make all elective medical and dental appointments for times before or after school.

Each child must bring a written excuse from the parent/guardian stating the reason for absence upon his/her return to school. The absence will be marked as unexcused until a note is received. Each student who accumulates more than 3 unexcused absences will be mailed a notice from the principal (required by state law) outlining the negative impact of student absences in school. ** Please allow up to 72 hours for your child’s attendance to be updated in the system.**

Excused Absences:

The following reasons are considered excuses for absences:

Personal illness (please state type of illness)

Medical appointments ( must provide a doctor’s note)

Death in family ( up to 3 days will be excused )

Court or Administrative proceedings

Approved Educational Leave  (form must be submitted 5 days in advance) **Approval is not guaranteed.

Unexcused Absences

The following are considered "Unexcused Absences":

Inclement weather

Car trouble

Missing the bus

Oversleeping

Out of town/vacation

Lack of written excuse or email

Tardiness

Students who arrive to school after 7:45 AM must be signed in by a parent in the office. Once signed in, the student will receive a tardy pass and must report to his/her classroom. Tardy passes are issued to ensure that each child is registered present for the day. Students must be in their classroom by 8:00 AM or they will be counted tardy. Children signing in tardy after 11:00 AM will be counted absent for the day.
