Reporting Absences

 

Attendance

When your child is absent, you must notify the school by sending us an email. Please keep in mind that according to Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board Policy and the NC Compulsory Attendance Law (N.C.G.S § 115C‑378), parents and guardians are responsible for seeing that their children attend school each day that school is in session.

Excused Absences:

The following reasons are considered excuses for absences:

Please note that all absences are considered unexcused unless the parent provides a written explanation for the absence. The school may request formal documentation from medical professionals should absences become excessive.

Unexcused Absences:

  • No written excuse or email
  • Missing the bus
  • Car trouble
  • Oversleeping
  • Inclement weather


Also, please note that students must be present for 210 minutes in order for the student to be counted as present for the school day. In addition, early dismissal ends promptly at 2:00pm to ensure a safe dismissal process for all students.
